In the peaceful coastal town of Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, the Municipal Gym of Barangay 5 was transformed into a center of healing, compassion and community spirit as LifeBank Foundation and the Philippine Red Cross – Cagayan de Oro Chapter successfully conducted the second district-wide medical mission in Mindanao.
The success of this initiative was made possible through the invaluable collaboration of Ms. Nancy Joy Tolinero – Philippine Red Cross CDOC Chapter Administrator, Ms. Janice Cagape – Chapter Service Representative, Dr. Maria Helen M. Romualdo – Rural Health Unit Head and the dedicated LifeBank team.
The mission served 542 beneficiaries including Ikabuhi Microfinance Program (IMP) members, their dependents, non-members and staff, all united by a shared commitment to better health and well-being.
A total of 87 medical professionals and volunteers provided free health consultations, engaging educational sessions with visual aids, and distributed vital medicines and supplements. Beyond treating illness, the mission empowered the community with knowledge about disease prevention and healthy living.
Beyond the numbers, the event became a meaningful celebration of community spirit and partnership. Smiles, gratitude, and warm interactions filled the gymnasium as beneficiaries received not only medical assistance but also the care, dignity, and attention they deserved.
The successful medical mission stands as a powerful testament to what can be achieved when prevention, education, compassion, and community commitment come together. Through initiatives like this, communities are given the tools and support they need to build healthier and more hopeful futures.
